Step 1. First you want to determine the most comfortable baritone that you feel is right for yourself. Whether its a rental, borrowed or possibly bought. I thoroughly recommend you go to a music dealer to buy your first personal instrument.
Step 2. Once you have found the baritone that you feel is right for yourself. I would suggest you check out a baritone beginner book, this way you will be able to awknowlege the key elements that the baritone consists of and have the most efficient way of learning how to play the baritone.
Step 3. Set your instrument case on the ground case in the correct position. Then carefully open your case, when doing this remember to not open it upside;however that could possible cause damage to the instrument.
Step 4. Once you have efficiently opened your instrument, take your mouthpiece and place it on your lips and try to create a consistent steady "buzzing" sound. Thoroughly focus on presenting the same consistent pitch throughout the buzzing as well. Then carefully take your baritone out of its case and place it on your lap in which the valves are facing the sky, then take the mouthpiece and carefully locate it in the mouthpiece hole. Remember to never jam the mouthpiece into the mouthpiece in which that can damage the instrument immensely and possibly get the mouthpiece caught in the mouthpiece hole; therefore, gently twist the mouthpiece into the mouthpiece hole.
Step 5. You are now ready to play! Repeat the same process of buzzing accept with the mouthpiece attached to the baritone. I suggest you have a tuner handy; however this time around you will produce a sound in which the tuner will determine what sound you are playing for you. Remember to play with the position of your lips and carefully listen to the sounds you can create.
Step 6. Find a fingering chart for this instrument and begin to learn the basic scales such as the B flat scale, the chromatic scale, etc. Comprehend and realize the fingerings of the notes and slowly and passionately begin to learn more of the fingering position of each specific note.
